Name: Ardruna
Age: 31
Contact:
Other Characters: Isabela, Kallian
Interests: Fun exploring Templar stuff and lyrium addictions and faith (since the other two aren't very religious). Ingrid's a good "get things done" character as well, and tends to be much more solid in whatever she commits to.
CHARACTER
Name: Ingrid Kief
Canon/OC: Dragon Age OC
Journal:
Race: Human
Nationality: Ander
Occupation: Templar
Age: 26
History
Ingrid was born to a poor family on a small farm a few miles outside Weisshaupt in the Anderfels, the eldest of 4 children. Her mother died when she was ten, leaving her to manage the household. At 15, she was married to a Grey Warden recruit (who did survive the Joining just before their marriage) from a wealthy family as part of an arrangement to relieve her family's debts. She didn't like being a bored housewife, and started borrowing templars to spar with at a local chantry. The Revered Mother noticed her talent and suggested she submit herself for training, which she did at age 17 with her husband's blessing. She completed training and took her vows at age 24.
Not quite two years later, she became pregnant with her first child, but contracted a fever in the fourth month and became very ill. She survived, but lost the baby, and during her sickness, her husband was killed in an accident during a scouting mission. The devastated Ingrid devoted herself to the Chantry as best she could, but struggled with depression. Thinking a change of scenery and new sense of purpose would help, her commanding officer instructed her to join the templar forces at Skyhold to learn about not only the Inquisition's intentions, but also about the new threat of red lyrium rumored to be plaguing other templar chapters.
Personality
Ingrid is a serious, sometimes dolorous (she still struggles with depression, some days more than others), pious woman of the Andrastian faith, though she does not like to issue judgment, which is the Maker's job, or proselytize as that's the job of the clerics, not the templars. She is also pragmatic, practical and resourceful, and will do what she can to find new uses for things before throwing them out. She is very industrious and always needs to have something to keep her busy or she'll go stir-crazy. When it comes to interacting with people, Ingrid is as solid and dependable a friend as they come. She takes her obligations seriously, and will never make a promise she does not intend to keep. Though she makes a far better dutiful follower than she does a leader, she tends to take on a “mother hen” role in a group setting, especially if those around her are younger than she is. Ingrid is good at following orders, and will usually end up carrying them out regardless of her feelings about them, but she is generally not shy in voicing her opinions on them, especially if she has objections. Still, Ingrid would rather focus on just getting things done than worrying about social dynamics, and so is willing to bite her tongue and work with people (even if she doesn’t particularly like them) in order to complete a task. She is wary of magic and believes it needs to be carefully monitored, but does recognize it has a place and is useful for many things. She is steadfastly loyal to her superiors, the Chantry and those who have earned her respect, but she will speak up if she disagrees with something asked of her (though she will most likely carry out the request regardless). She is clever, but not inquisitive, and prefers to reason things out for herself than research what some scholar has to say on a given subject and is not a fan of reading much except for the Chant of Light.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Combat- Ingrid is a skilled sword and shield warrior, having been practicing since she was big enough to lift them, with her skills honed and refined under templar training. She has the Defender talent and the Templar specialization.
Faith- Ingrid is a devout, pious life-long Andrastian, secure and unquestioning in her belief in the Maker and Andraste, His Bride. Her unshakable faith is what powers her assorted templar abilities. With this in mind, Ingrid will stand with the Chantry’s position on virtually any given issue. This could cause frictions with those who are less religious or follow other belief systems.
Lyrium Addiction- Like many templars, Ingrid is under a lyrium addiction. She is fastidious about her intake, and will only change her dosage if directly ordered to do so by a superior officer. If she is unable to take the necessary dosage for any reason, she will suffer withdrawal symptoms.
Provincial- Ingrid is a farm girl from the Anderfels, not familiar with other cultures, languages, or politics or their viewpoints, and finds them hopelessly foreign so she doesn't understand them easily.
Agriculture/Domestic- She is skilled in farming and domestic chores, e.g. sowing and harvesting, animal husbandry, grinding grain with rocks, carding, spinning, weaving and dyeing the wool, making butter and cheese, butchering meat, tanning hides, making tallow candles, sewing clothes, and repairing and patching anything that wears out or breaks down back into serviceable condition.
